FAQs

What do I do & how do I do it?

What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?

What are the Akashic Records?

What does biodynamic mean?

Here is a definition of the word “biodynamic” I would like to share: “the branch of biology dealing with energy or the activity of living organisms”

The biodynamic approach of the craniosacral therapy practice looks at the whole person and all of their living experiences, from a perspective of health and wellness. In this approach the therapist does not impose their own ideas about how their client “should” be. They meet the client where they need to be met in the present moment and guide them to connect to their own source of health, resources, and vitality. This approach empowers the client to trust and listen to their body and teaches them how to connect to their own power and vitality.

In the biodynamic approach, the therapist does not “adjust” or make “corrections” to the client – instead, they create and hold a safe space and give their clients the tools and resources they need to self-adjust and self-correct. The changes that occur within the client’s body always originate from the clients priorities and needs and from their own health.

Is Craniosacral Therapy like reiki?

No. Reiki is a powerful and subtle form of energy healing and is usually not performed as a touch therapy. The principals of reiki originate from Japan and work with the concept of clearing energetic blockages in the chakra system.

The origins and foundations of craniosacral therapy come from the Osteopathic tradition and have developed into what we now know of as craniosacral therapy today. Craniosacral therapists study anatomy, embryology, and human development from a felt sense perspective. They develop and apply their touch in relationship to the physical systems of the body and also acknowledge and work with the energetic “life force energy” that forms us into the amazing human beings we are. Craniosacral therapists call this “life force energy” potency. Potency is the inexplicable and powerful force that shaped our cells and bodies into the form we now inhabit: our human body.

How many sessions do I need?

I have good and bad news for you …

The answer to this question is not “just one”.

I want to be clear and honest with you.

There is no such thing as a “quick cure” to anything. Period.

Sorry.

There is no magic pill or therapy that will cure you fast. That’s just not how the healing process works.

If you are looking for a quick fix, we are probably not a good fit.

If you are willing and courageous enough to walk your healing path, then I can guide and support you through the process.

It is essential that my clients understand clearly what their responsibilities are and what mine are.

I am your guide. I have the experience and tools to get you through the jungle as safely and efficiently as possible, but I cannot drag you kicking and screaming. You’ve got to be willing to put one foot in front of the other and walk with me on your path.

All you need is to be willing and open to whatever might come up (because things will come up … and that’s where I come in!).

So in a nutshell … how many sessions?

How many sessions depends on:

  1. What kind of results you are looking for
  2. How resourced you already are

3 Sessions:

Are for resolving acute conditions for someone who is resourced and overall healthy.

For example:

  • Improving circulation & minimizing negative impact of scar tissue after surgery
  • Dealing with an acute trauma (stressful/intense event, accident, or injury) for a person who is overall healthy and resourced before the incident

9 Sessions:

Are for resolving chronic, complex, and systemic problems.

For example:

  • Chronic pain, chronic fatigue, or other chronic illness
  • Nervous system disorders (fibromyalgia, phantom limb, etc.)
  • Anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD

Each client is unique. The total number of sessions as well as the pacing (weekly, biweekly, monthly) of those sessions will depend on what you want and where you are at right now.

My intention is to help you shift and transform, not to put a bandaid on your symptoms. In working with me, you will learn and cultivate your own inner intelligence, intuition, and independence rather than develop a co-dependance “need” for me.

Because I want you to see results, I want to first ensure we are a good fit.

If you feel a curiosity and pull to work with me, please send me an email or go to my booking page and book a free 30 minute consultation call.

Listen to your gut. Listen with your heart.

If we are a good fit, we will both know it after having a chat. If for some reason we are not meant to be I will openly and honestly tell you and do my best to steer you toward the best resources and tools for you.

What type of yoga do you teach?

I teach from the Vijnana model of yoga practice although my own background is varied and I have practiced everything from ashtanga to hatha traditions. I integrate many types of movement practices into my teaching including Body Mind Centering, Continuum, and developmental movement. I teach my clients to explore what feels right in their own bodies and help empower them to make informed and intuitive decisions through the exploration of movement and sensation.

What should I wear to the first session? Do I need to bring anything?

Since you will be lying down on a massage table, it’s best to wear loose clothing you will be comfortable lying down in. I provide blankets, pillows, and other props for you to be as comfortable as possible but if you have a tendency to get cold or hot, you may want to bring a sweater and/or dress in layers.

I provide water at the studio however you are welcome to bring a water bottle. I encourage all of my clients to make sure they hydrate always but this especially important after a session.

For private yoga & movement sessions, I do have a studio yoga mat that you are welcome to use. However, I encourage you to bring your own if you have one.

Before your first session, I will email you some information and an intake form . Please fill out the form and send it back to me either via email before your session or print it out and bring it with you in person to the first session.

Are there contraindications for Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy? Is it safe?

No. The biodynamic approach is very gentle and non-invasive. Because your body is leading the session, all of the shifts and changes that happen take place from within you. The therapist acts as a guide and creates a safe space for you do do the work.

This work is safe and effective for people of all ages and health states including children and babies. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is often recommended before, during, and after pregnancy. It gently calms the nervous system of both mom and baby and strengthens and balances the bonding between them.
